Mother Powell
is a graduate of the General Theological
Seminary in Manhattan and previously served the Churches of St.
Peter's, West Chester Square, the Bronx and the Church of Sts.
John, Paul and Clement in Mt. Vernon, NY before becoming
Vicar of St. Martin's in 1986. She also served as Director
of Oblates and Associates of the Order of the Holy Family for many
years. In 2001, when St.
Martin's grew to Parish status, Mother Powell was installed
as the first Rector. Since coming to St. Martin's, Mother
Powell has been involved in many committees, both within the
diocese and the local ecumenical community. She is
especially interested in liturgy and the support of lay
ministries. Her husband, The Reverend John
Charles Powell is a retired priest of this diocese.
Mother Powell lives in the Rectory at 485 Main Street along
with her husband, their cat Winston,
and her 94 year old Father. Her
son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter live in Hainesport |

Deacon
Smyth grew
up in Lumberton attending Florence L. Walther Elementary School,
Rancocas Valley Regional High School and Burlington County
Community College. She
is a graduate of the New Jersey Diaconal Foundation Program and
has served St. Martin's since her ordination in 1998. Deacon
Smyth leads St. Martin's outreach ministry and works with the
children on their participation in the liturgy.
She lives in Medford with her husband, Tyson, her
granddaughter, Allison, a granddog, Ralphie, and grandcat, Sophie,
along with her own cat companion, Becca.
She and her husband are the loving parents of two
daughters, Sue and Melissa and one son, Byran, two sons-in-law, a
daughter-in-law and 4 grandchildren.
Her husband, Tyson, a retired employee of Lumberton
Township has been the church Sexton since 1999 and has been a
member of St. Martin's since 1963. |
